Special Newsletter Announcing:
“The Streets of Tawa”
By Bruce Murray
Newsletter #12 – November 2005
Dear Members,
You will be aware from the Chairman’s Report to the recent AGM that a lot of effort has been going into the publication of a book on the streets of Tawa. We are pleased and proud to be able to tell you that the book is being published right now, and early copies are already being distributed.
The price of the book to the general public has been set at $20, plus postage and packaging of $2 where applicable.
Members of the Tawa Historical Society
For our existing members we have a special price of $15.00 plus postage and packaging of $2.00 where appropriate. Orders may be sent to Bill Hinkley our Secretary / Treasurer by mail care of the above address.
Members’ subscription for the 2005 / 2006 year have been set at $5.00 (last year was $10.00) for a special reason which will be explained later in this newsletter, and you may wish to include this extra $5.00 in your cheque for the book.
Sales to the General Public
With each copy sold to the general public there will be an insert offering free membership for the balance of the society’s year which finishes in June 2006. With membership being set at $5.00, this means that those folk will get the book at the same price you by becoming members themselves. We regard this as a golden opportunity to increase our membership, and this is why we have decided to reduce members’ subscriptions so that you are not unfairly treated.
Other Activities
The book isn’t the only project going on, and we will discuss progress on the others in our next Newsletter.
I look forward to receiving your order for this excellent publication.
Kind regards
Bill Hinkley
Secretary / Treasurer
